Works on code you already have
Breakspec checks code your agent already wrote, in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or by hand. There’s no spec to write first.

Kiro is the closest thing to Breakspec. You write requirements in Kiro’s spec format, and it tests them against your code with lots of random inputs, then shows you the simplest one that fails. The difference is where that happens: inside Kiro’s own editor, as part of building a feature there.

Approved rules are rechecked on every pull request, before each commit, or from your terminal, without AI.
Your agent can suggest rules but can’t approve them. If a fix special-cases the failing example, or someone edits a rule to make it pass, Breakspec flags it.

Yes. Building in Kiro? Breakspec still adds the pull request check, the human approval, and coverage for code written outside Kiro.
